Fastlane 2019 Predictions

What is up everybody! We are a mere 24 hours away from the biggest pit stop on the road to wrestlemania! The one and only Fastlane.

Though we may give it a lot of grief as an unecessary pay per view that can contribute to clunky story telling right before thee biggest show of the year it is still a reason for us to get together, drink beer and eat good food. Oh and Fastlane has actually had some solid matches throughout the years. One of my personal favorites being Bryan vs. Roman in 2015.

But alas folks we are not here today to dwell on the past, we are here to recklessly predict the future armed only with WWE programming and wrestling twitter. So lets do this.

Big E & Xavier Woods vs Shinsuke Nakamura & Rusev (Kickoff Match)

So lets start right off with the match you probably already forgot was happening. Not knocking the guys involved, just this one has flown under the radar when stacked next to the other matches.

Now when trying to predict this one its interesting because in my opinion it really could go either way. On one hand you have two top guys in Shinsuke and Rusev who are still trying to bounce back after their US title loses going up against The New Day who are fired up over the injustice surrounding Kofi Kingston being pulled from the main event title match.

The New day are likely less impacted by a loss here given how much everyone loves them so lets say…Shinsuke and Rusev?

S.D. Prediction: Shinsuke and Rusev

Rey Mysterio vs. Andrade (Kickoff Match)

This has the potential to be match of the night given the natural chemistry these two show every time they’ve stepped into the ring together. Their first match on Smackdown was an absolute barn burner that would have stolen the show on most PPV’s. With all that said I gotta go Rey here because this being the first match between the two on PPV opens up the door for a series. Likely Rey wins here and Andrade wins at Wrestlemania…and then subsequently he will win again at Backlash for the rubber match.

S.D. Prediction: Rey Mysterio

Raw Tag Team Champions The Revival vs. Aleister Black & Ricochet vs. Chad Gable & Bobby Roode (Triple Threat Match)

The amount of talented guys in this match is astounding. Not only do you have arguably the best tag team in wrestling, you have Ricochet, Gable and Aleister Black thrown in the mix. Also Bobby Roode is there. Now don’t get me wrong I have loved Bobby Roode’s gimmick but his style is a little more methodical than I fancy.

However I don’t see any reason the Revival don’t retain here. Or at least they should win, especially given that they have been losing every week on RAW. Also runs the risk of stealing the show.

Any predictions on what crazy flip-dee-doo that Ricochet busts out for his first main roster PPV?

S.D. Prediction: The Revival

SmackDown Women’s Champion Asuka vs. Mandy Rose

I love Asuka. It’s just too bad her title run has taken a bit of a back seat to the Man and Ronda Rousey. It was bound to happen given how insanely over Becky is but I hope someday Asuka get more headlines with her reign.

Mandy earned this shot when she stepped up and beat Asuka in a 1-1 match in February. So in true WWE fashion you gotta beat the champ to get a shot at the champ. A concept I likely will never stop griping about.

Anyways this match is a no brainer right? Mandy. All. Day.

Just kidding.

S.D. Prediction: Asuka

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Sasha Banks & Bayley vs. Nia Jax & Tamina

Not really a lot of build on this one. Sasha and Bayley vowed to defend their titles to anyone on RAW, Smackdown, or NXT and were challenged by Nia and Tamina.

I love Sasha and Bayley, even if we were never given the pay off of them fighting…but I just can’t get excited with this match when they are facing Nia and Tamina- possibly the least exciting team on the entire roster. Nia can do some cool stuff but she just appears to be a liability and Tamina is towards the end of her career.

Nia did bring up that Sasha notoriously always loses on her first title defense. Does that play a factor for tomorrow? I don’t think so. Bayley and Sasha are likely to be champs for a long time.

S.D. Prediction: Boss N’ Hug Connection

SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos vs. The Miz & Shane McMahon

I have to say I am so surprised that Shane is still tying back to the “greatest in the world” tournament at Crown Jewel from last year. For as much as people complain about “long term booking” being dead…this is a pretty classic example.

So the whole build on this is that Shane and Miz want a rematch after losing their titles at Elimination Chamber last month. The segments are gold between them and i’m sure the feud we’re building to between them will be great as well. That being said I doubt the Usos lose. This will be the catalyst that cracks Miz and Shane apart.

S.D. Prediction: Usos

The Shield vs. Baron Corbin, Drew McIntyre & Bobby Lashley

In my mind there isn’t much thats as sure fire as this match. With Dean Ambrose set to leave after Wrestlemania it seems like a slam dunk to have one more successful shield reunion for the foreseeable future.

But what if that is what WWE wants us to believe??? The perils of being a wrestling fan, am I right?

Lets live dangerously and say WWE wants to give us a happy ending.

S.D. Prediction: The Shield

Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch (If Becky wins, she gets added to Raw Women’s Title Match at WrestleMania)

In a “hot take” that is not a “hot take” at all: this feud is going to be remembered for years. These two have been putting on absolute classics (see: TLC + Evolution 2018).

Becky will find a way to win and be put into the main event of Wrestlemania. I also expect to see Ronda run in and cause some shenanigans.

I assume she is extra angry given that her social media rant has immortalized her in a meme leading up to Fastlane.

S.D. Prediction: Becky Lynch

WWE Champion Daniel Bryan vs. Kevin Owens

So here it is. The main event. When Vince came out on a Smackdown a few weeks ago and substituted Kofi for Kevin Owens I had no idea how to feel. Angry but also excited? But this is where we are now and predictions need to be made.

Kevin Owens is one of the best in the game on the mic and in the ring, but this Sunday I don’t believe will be his day given that Daniel Bryan is in the middle of an absolutely electric heel championship run that is some of /if not the best work he’s ever done.

Daniel walks out with his hemp belt on Sunday. Bank on it.

S.D. Prediction: Daniel Bryan

So there you have it. Some predictions that likely will be entirely wrong (per usual)….but it’s been fun nonetheless.

Make sure to chat with us tomorrow as we live tweet Fastlane!

Until next time, stay jaded.
